Pepper is a friendly robot from SoftBank Robotics that has been developed to interact with people. Pepper can move independently, engage in conversation with people and get to know its surroundings, which means it has potential for use in many different departments.
Pepper's strength lies primarily in personal dialogue. Thanks to his cameras and sensors the robot can collect data from face-to-face conversations with people and uses this to improve responses and social skills. Pepper can be quickly customised to its environment and individual tasks, which allows it to be used in a variety of ways. Pepper is used as an employee in retail, catering or in a school context, where it is always ready to help.
Pepper can be used effectively in the care sector as well. Its strengths in routine processes and attentiveness in personal interactions make it a valuable assistant in labour-intensive fields such as medical care. Pepper can also be found in some of our projects, such as AI4self, which is researching the use of adaptable robots in interactions with shy children, where the robots should be able to respond individually to a child's mood and character.
